If your total annual income from influencer work , including cash campaigns, barter deals, gifted products, and any other benefits , exceeds INR 20 lakh per financial year (INR 10 lakh in special category states like Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and others), you are required to register for GST under the Goods and Services Tax Act 2017 and charge 18% GST on your service invoices to brands. If you are below this threshold, GST registration is optional. Barter deals where you receive a free product may also carry a notional taxable value. Branator does not collect or remit GST on your behalf , this is your individual obligation. We strongly recommend consulting a chartered accountant if you are earning regularly from influencer campaigns.

Yes, in most cases. When a brand pays an influencer directly for services, TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) may apply under the Income Tax Act 1961. The most common sections are Section 194J (professional or technical services, 10% TDS, threshold INR 30,000 per year per influencer) and Section 194R (benefits or free products above INR 20,000 in value, 10% TDS). Brands are solely responsible for deducting and depositing TDS with the Income Tax Department , Branator does not deduct TDS on anyone's behalf and is not liable for any TDS non-compliance between brands and influencers. Influencers must declare all income earned through Branator campaigns in their annual income tax returns. Both parties should consult a chartered accountant for advice specific to their situation. Barter deals let brands offer a product instead of cash. A brand posts a barter brief describing the product, its value, and what content they want in return , for example, one Instagram Reel reviewing the product. Influencers browse barter briefs in their niche and apply by expressing interest. The brand selects their preferred creators, confirms the shipping address through Branator, and sends the product directly. Once the influencer posts the content on their own social media, they mark the deal as complete and submit the post link. Branator tracks the status but never handles the product or the shipping. Both sides get the verified deal added to their campaign history.

All payments for paid campaigns go directly from the brand to the influencer. Branator never touches deal money and takes zero commission. Once a brand accepts your quote through the platform, both parties agree on the final fee, timeline, and payment method directly , bank transfer, UPI, or whatever suits both sides. For barter deals, the brand ships the product directly to you with no cash involved. Branator's only charges are the INR 99 per month influencer subscription and the brief posting fee paid by brands to Branator. Everything else goes straight to you. Note: if your total annual income from influencer work exceeds INR 20 lakh, you are required to register for GST and raise a proper tax invoice to the brand. You can cancel any time from Account Settings , go to Settings and select Cancel Subscription. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period and we do not charge any cancellation fee. If you earned free months by posting about Branator, those months are not refunded but your access continues until they expire.
